Commercial & Public Sector applications

Different operations.
The same need for context.

Commercial and public-sector operations generate information from people, equipment, sensors, software and the environment. The challenge is often not collecting more data, but relating what already exists into a picture people can understand and use.

These are application directions for Recon’s developing technologies, not deployed solutions or complete operational workflows. The development record distinguishes working foundations from integrations and capabilities still to be built.

Application direction

Public safety & municipal operations

Municipal crews may encounter a flooded road, damaged asset or changing water level while working in different places. Relating those observations to locations and current conditions could make distributed field responsibilities easier to understand.

The field-first aim is useful context with less reporting burden. For incidents involving responders and partner agencies, see the public safety and emergency management example.

Application direction

Critical infrastructure & utilities

An incident report, asset status and crew observation may refer to the same location but live in separate systems. Utilities and infrastructure teams need to relate those reports to weather, access and changing conditions across a distributed area.

Janus provides an evolving operational world model for supported evidence. Utility-specific feeds and workflows would need their own integration and validation.

Application direction

Transportation, fleet & logistics

A moving asset’s position explains little without its time, route and surrounding conditions. Relating location observations to weather and field reports could help teams understand disruptions across distributed operations.

Wayfinder preserves identity and provenance for supported sources, including mobile position evidence. Fleet-specific telemetry remains an integration direction; existing dispatch and logistics systems retain their own roles.

Application direction

Ports, maritime & coastal operations

Vessel activity, nearby aviation, weather and water conditions often appear in separate views. Bringing supported observations into geographic context could help a port or coastal team understand how those conditions relate.

Wayfinder handles supported source observations. Separately, Recon RF has demonstrated live ADS-B and UAT reception and native decoding. Reception varies with equipment and conditions; RF-to-Janus integration remains future work.

Application direction

Industrial & connected field operations

An equipment report inside a facility may need context from a field observation or an environmental change outside it. The application direction is to relate that information while specialized systems continue to manage their own operations.

Where validated information must cross a system boundary, Charon owns governed interchange. Its current foundation is library and command-line software validated with fixtures; industrial-system connections and production transport still require development.

Application direction

Environmental monitoring

A water-level reading, weather alert and remote fire observation describe different parts of changing conditions. Their source, location and observation time matter when assessing what they mean for nearby infrastructure or field activity.

Wayfinder acquires and normalizes supported environmental observations while preserving their origins. It can operate independently for source inspection or supply evidence to Janus for broader operational context.

Application direction

Research & analytical review

A complex organizational or operational question may span many teams, decisions and periods of activity. Investigation needs to trace evidence across sources and relationships, test competing explanations and understand what contradictions or missing information prevent it from concluding.

Aquila research currently applies that discipline in the Ninth Legion historical program. The intended broader framework could eventually help organizations assess whole operations, explore alternative approaches and identify potential improvements.

Use the technology where it fits.

Recon technologies are modular by design. An operation may need one component, several working together or compatible information exchanged with other systems. The problem should determine the architecture, not the customer category.
